Thing 13

I viewed a session called “paretns as partners” which can be view at:

http://k12onlineconference.org/?p=340

In this presentation I was told again  and again how important is parental involvemevt.

Parental involvement is critical, and they should be trained in the technologies their kids use. Also the teachers should have resources and training to be able to understand the difficulties and challenges of today’s learners. Kids are more computer savvy today than most of the parents and teachers. If adults are more involved in education and technology, their kids will be better prepared success. Parents lack time, so schools should find a way to make information and parental education accessible online.

After viewing this presentation which was 20:10 minutes long, I entered the wiki page at:

http://parentsaspartners.wikispaces.com/

and read more about what I observed.  I also entered their chat room and listened to a recorded one. It was interesting- but did not say anything new to me. I wish they would have shown practical ways to record your voice and make such presetations.  With this presenattion I felt my time was waisted.

I agree parental involvement is very important. It’s a reminder to me as a parent that I need to stay involved in helping my own kids learn.

I’m not sure exactly how your presentation was formated but I loved the session I attended. The presenter narrated a powerpoint type presentation. It was easy to follow and easy to pause and take notes.

I didn’t like all the voice thread comments from other people on the essential questions. It’s boring to listen to the comments. I’d rather read them at my own pace.
